Whirlpool 4378411RB In-Line Refrigerator Ice and Water Filter

Installation takes skills and tools though filter works great.
Having moved recently, we were not happy to note the odd taste of the city water in our area. As our Kenmore refrigerator is the type that dispenses ice and water, we felt that installing an inline filter was a good idea. This filter does a great job of eliminating the strong chlorinated flavor that was in our water. In fact, the difference is so obvious, even our kids commented.

My husband knows his way around a tool box so the installation of this filter was fairly routine for him. However, those who are intimidated by the idea of making burr free cuts in a water line may want to look at a different filtering solution. The filter is fairly small and easily tucks away out of sight behind the appliance without forcing the unit further out into the room.

2 stars for product description and pics, not the filter
If you happen to click on additional information you will find it says "fits any standard 1/4-inch water line"...not quite so. If you are replacing an existing filter which has the standard 1/4" NPT fittings then this filter will NOT work. Unfortunately Amazon doesn't have pictures of the end of the filter which would greatly help in preventing ordering this filter incorrectly. So now I'm stuck with paying $6 to return it. I think it's time to go to HD or Lowes where I can see it before I buy it.

Was what I needed
There are no tools needed, simply turn water supply line off, disconnect old one by pulling tube out of both ends, push tube from water supply back into new one, turn water supply on and flush into empty bucket for about 3 minutes to clear out sediment, connect tube from refrigerator and you are good to go.
