It is terrific, but it is ALUMINUM!
Yes, the cookie press is almost 100% aluminum. I didn't take the one star off for that though, the 4 star rating is because the gun is small.
The gun is wonderful otherwise! For the past thirty five years I have tried a number of cookie presses that failed. The plastic ones don't work at all and all of the aluminum ones I tried before used two small nubs for screwing on the caps. Overtighten and the gun becomes useless forever.
This gun is wonderful in that the caps and body have real threads so that the caps screw on, screw down tight and don't fail. The handle lever works very well.
So, my only real gripe is about the size of the gun. It fits real nice into a cabinet drawer, but one batch of cookie dough takes several fillings. The cookie gun that I used as a child was longer and perhaps a bit larger in diameter and needed to be filled infrequently.
The gun has a good selection of dies, cleans easily and wastes very little dough. We made...
Finally a Cookie Press that works!!
My original cookies press was a Waring Super Shooter that is stil alive, but barely. I've purchase several new cookie presses in an effort to replace my SS. Earlier this year I purchased a Wilton cookie press that was a complete disaster. No threads on the barrel, the design plates were too small for the press and kept falling through but left behind strings of plastic in the dough. The plates were made of plastic which seems like a really bad idea. The Mercato was my third try and I was thrilled to find that it actually work. The two previous presses did not have threads on the barrel and the pressure of pushing out the dough popped the top and/or bottom off the press. This press has full threads on both ends of the barrel. I love that it has a handle that you push rather than having to squeeze the handles. Much easier for someone with arthritis. The barrel is on the smaller side, but I don't care. It's a small price to pay for the press that works! I think I can safely...
Great heavy duty press
Love this cookie press. It is a heavy duty quality, and is easy to use. I especially appreciate the notched handle so just the right amount of dough is extruded for each cookie. However, I did not buy my press on Amazon, we got ours from Fantes, a kitchen store in Philly.
