Super mini sharpener: Great for stainless knives
I recently lost my sharpener and replaced it with the same model. I had my previous EZE-Lap S-Pen for 10 years or more. Its small size and diamond surface made it an ideal companion for someone like me who uses a knife several times every day. The EZE-Lap has a flat surface, a rounded surface, and a groove for fish hooks. The flat surface is useful on most blades. The rounded surface works well on many serrated knives like Spyderco (R). The EZE-Lap is the only sharpener I've found that will quickly sharpen a Swiss Army-type knife. It will whip that hard stainless into a razor-sharp edge in just a minute or two. You won't regret buying EZE-Lap.
Every tackle box needs one
All of my tackle boxes have some sort of hook sharpener in them and I will say this one rates at the top. It does not take up any room to speak of and is so easy to pull the cover tube off and place it on the end for a handle. I find at times with smaller hooks, I don't even put the handle on so I can work with just the sharpening rod (easier to hold when working with small hooks). Have used it for touching up my pocket knife in the boat, but it is a bit small for serious knife sharpening and EZE-LAP does offer better models for this. I have shifted my sharpeners in the tackle boxes and the EZE-LAP S Pen Type is now in my main boxes that get about 90% of all my fishing use. I have no problem recommending this sharpener to anyone for their tackle box.
Once you use it, you will be hooked. . . .and so will the fish
Clipless
This sharpener is very nice to use sharpening hooks, it is "right sized" to hold in the hand and sharpen hooks in the middle of the stream and the grit is sufficiently fine that it points the hooks well. My problem, and the reason for the low rating, is that the clip pulled out of the case the second day of use! It may work fine with a light weight shirt pocket, but not with my Simms fishing vest.
