Whirlpool 74007498 Igniter for Range

whirlpool
Part worked nicely. I had to splice the wires due to a different connection on the oven part. I was expecting that from a YouTube "how to do it yourself" video. Saved a bunch. Renters were happy. They made pizza that same day. Thanks guys!

Stove works now
I was skeptical that replacing the ignitor in our Magic Chef (a.k.a. Whirlpool) oven would fix the slow heating problem but I ordered this relacement ignitor and installed it and the stove is as good as new. The installation took abou 20 minutes mainly because I had to lay on my stomach to get at the panels, etc. The ignitor comes with simple instructions and extra wire (in case the snap plug doesn't fit the old plug) and some insulation to stuff in the access hole. Other than the awkward positions I had to assume the installation was smooth and the oven fired right up and reached the preset temperature in a few minutes just like it used to. Great product and a cheap simple fix for a slow heating oven.

Wonderful replacement!
I purchased two of these igniters for my Maytag double oven. It wasn't the proper clip and the wires were not quite long enough BUT since I had the old ones I took the clip and some wire from them, spliced them together and I'm back in the baking business! Doing this project myself saved me almost $400! Both of the igniters were purchased for less than what one would have cost at Sears (and several other websites). Even with the wrong clip and lack of wire, I'm a happy camper!
